Never visited the Willard area of South Portland? Here are a few of our favorite places:
Scratch Baking Co.
They’ve become famous for their hand-cut and freshly baked bagels. Their first daily batch often sells out quickly, but you’re likely to see a new batch if you’re ok with a short wait. Some of our other favorites are Scratch’s giant cinnamon rolls and huge chocolate chip cookies. Choose your favorite treat and enjoy it on their picnic tables in front of the store.

If you have trouble deciding, we recommend trying the “Salt Caramel”. Salted Caramel desserts have become popular in recent years, but none of them rival this one. It’s creamy, rich and will not disappoint! The kids are sure to love their “Halloween” flavor, which is full of large pieces of Halloween candy. If you’re adventurous and enjoy a little heat, order the “Subburn”, a strawberry-habanero ice cream.

Willard Beach is a small, quiet and clean beach in the Willard neighborhood of South Portland. Go for a swim, soak up the summer sun and enjoy a beautiful view of the islands and lighthouses in Casco Bay.
Willard Beach has everything covered, including showers, restrooms, and a snack bar. There’s a free parking lot which accommodates 75 cars, a few steps away from the beach.
